Highland Receives 2010 WA Achievement Award!

Dear Highland Community,

I am pleased to announce that Highland Middle School is a recipient of the 2010 Washington Achievement Award by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and the State Board of Education.

This award was created to celebrate and recognize top-performing schools across the state in multiple categories. This highly selective award is based on our school's performance according to the Washington Achievement Index, a comprehensive measurement of how schools in Washington are performing over time.  The Washington Achievement Award is given to elementary, middle, high and comprehensive schools in seven different categories: overall excellence, language arts, math, science, extended graduation rate (high and comprehensive schools only), improvement and closing achievement gaps. Highland Middle School was recognized for Overall Excellence.

On April 27, I will be attending the state's award ceremony with several other administrators hosted by Lincoln High School in Tacoma.

It is truly an honor to be a recipient of this award!  This is a testament to all of our staff, students and families at Highland.  Thanks for supporting Highland!

Sincerely,

Anissa Bereano, Principal
